How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. We use as few as we can.

Essential cookies are always on, because without them the site cannot do what you asked. Everything else is off until you turn it on, and stays off if you never do. Closing the banner without choosing is not consent, which is why the banner has no close button — it asks until you answer.

Your choice is remembered for twelve months, and you can change it at any time from the Cookie settings button in the footer of any page. If we change this policy materially we will ask again.

Essential

lc_consent — remembers the cookie choice you made on this page, so we do not ask again. Twelve months.

lc_gate — set when you enter the shared pre-launch password, so you are not asked on every page. Two weeks. This cookie will disappear when the site opens publicly.

Sign-in cookies — if you have an account, our sign-in provider Clerk sets cookies that keep you signed in and protect the sign-in form. These exist only once you have an account and are signed in.

Analytics — off until you allow it

_ga and _ga_<id> — set by Google Analytics to count visits and tell a returning browser from a new one. Up to two years.

No request is made to Google, and no analytics cookie is set, unless you have permitted analytics. Turning analytics off in the Cookie settings stops it again.

Marketing — none today

We currently set no marketing cookies at all. The choice is offered so that your preference is already recorded if that ever changes, rather than us asking you again later.
